The U.S. Department of Commerce just released its New Home Sales report showing a 13% drop-off in annualized sales between December and January, the biggest one-month drop since May 2010.
In addition, the supply of new homes for sale spiked higher to 7.9 months last month, the number of months it would take to sell the complete “for sale” new home inventory at the current pace. In December, the supply measured just 7.0 months,
However. ther is good news here for home buyers. For buyers of new construction home buyers, slowing sales can be good news. Weaker markets put pressure on the home builder to discount prices and, in many cases, also offer free upgrades to buyers.
So, says, Bob Henley, a Sarasota Florida real estate expert, "if you are thinking about buying a builder's new construction hpme, now is the time to get with a Licensed Realtor who can help you negotiate a great price."
